We are looking to hire an experienced Electromechanical Engineer to manage our operations in the East African Region.

Electromechanical Engineer Job Responsibilities:

The Engineer to be based in Uganda will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining broad range of electrical/electronic and mechanical systems or components by focusing on safety, economy, reliability, sustainability and quality within the region.

Primary Job Duties:

·         Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of electricity and materials.

·         Confirms system's and components' capabilities by designing testing methods; testing properties.

·         Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements

·         Develops electrical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.

·         Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electrical components; soliciting observations from operators.

·         Assures product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities.

·         Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

·         Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.

·         Keeps equipment operational by following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting repair service.

·         Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.

·         Maintains product data base by writing computer programs; entering data.

·         Completes projects by training and guiding technicians.

·         Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

Required Education and Skills.

A qualifying candidate should have;

·         Bachelor’s degrees in electromechanical engineering.

·         A master's degree or higher is an added advantage.

·         Having a strong technical background and a creative bent.

·         Constantly developing new ideas and bringing them to life.

·         Strength in math, science and computers is necessary.

·         Frequently make presentations and draft technical instructions, so public speaking and writing are two skills worth having.

·          Reporting Research Results, Attention to Detail, Emphasizing Excellence and Innovation.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems, ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The successful applicant must have a positive outlook and have the ability to multi-task. Customer service is the top priority of Kanasi Plascon.

                Remuneration:

Job Title:                                            Dispatch & Logistics Manager
Reports to:                                         Terminal Operations

Kansai Plascon Uganda Limited is a growing, paints and decorations manufacturer in the East Africa region. Headquartered in Kampala, the Company manufactures a diverse line of materials including undercoat, paint emulsion, Vinyl paddings, Trade Wall Cover, Plascryls and various other aggregate materials.


Position Summary:
The position is responsible for managing the dispatch functions of Kansai Plascon’s fleet operations to ensure the efficient and effective movement of our customers' products. It entails direct and indirect supervision of the dispatch team and the professional drivers.  Addition to strategy development, the Dispatch Manager will develop and monitor field efficiencies and innovate new ways to improve operations. Handling complaints, discussing challenges and working with management to develop action plans to improve driver performance, profitability and customer service.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has supervisory responsibilities for Departmental Dispatchers. It includes responsibility for employee performance reviews and feedback, providing motivation and encouragement, scheduling time off, employee grievances or complaints, pay changes and dispatcher accountability responsibilities. May be required to perform other duties to cover staff shortages or address customer needs.

Responsibilities:  
·         Manage all routing modifications to ensure the business is utilizing equipment and staff efficiently regarding hauling maximum tonnage, coordinating backhaul opportunities, conserving fuel, reducing idle time, etc. by utilizing available technology.
·         Continually assess the service level and provide recommendations to managers regarding opportunities to improve operational performance.
·         Monitor and manage Key Performance Indicators and cost factors impacting operational effectiveness.
·         Effectively communicate with customers on a regular basis regarding core transportation issues impacting the customer and the effectiveness and efficiency of the fleet.
·         Build and maintain a positive work environment where team members and their contributions are recognized and valued. Maintain frequent communication with all team members.
·         Promote and monitor employee safety and take proactive steps to create a positive safety culture. Partner with customer, internal and external resources as necessary to identify, evaluate and remove safety obstacles. Ensure compliance with safety programs and protocols as well as federal, state and local regulations.
·         Embrace, promote and lead continuous improvement efforts, including selection and implementation of dispatch component of enterprise software.  
·         Set and monitor productivity, service, and safety targets for each route and driver.
·         Monitor daily truck revenue goals – explain variances from company standard.

                     
Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:
Education/Experience:
·         Associate, Vocational or Technical Degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred in Logistics, Transportation, Business or related field
·         3-5 years of experience in the Transportation Industry (Transportation management, dispatching, customer interaction)
·          Demonstrated experience in transportation analysis leading, directing, communicating change and developing a team strongly desired.
·         Knowledge of enterprise software applications and conversion activities.  
·         Solid written and oral skills with a strong ability to work with others
·         Experience with financials and a financial acumen.

Mathematical Skills: General Mathematics. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
The successful applicant must have a positive outlook and have the ability to multi-task. Will need to be flexible to cover operations as needed. Customer service is the #1 priority of Kanasi Plascon.

Work Hours:  The work schedule for the Dispatch & Logistics Manager is thirty five to forty five hours per week. With occasional overtime, in case there is an overload.
